November is commonly referred to as a “shoulder season” — the sweet spot between peak-season crowds and the off-season. If you’re craving an autumnal retreat, the best places to travel in November offer fewer crowds, mild weather, and a reprieve from the hectic energy of the holiday season.
If you’re looking to end your fall with a trip to remember, our curated collection offers some of the best places to visit in November. With perfect weather, pleasant temperatures, and plenty to do, these bespoke experiences should definitely be on your bucket list.

Central Florida is always a popular tourist destination, even during the height of hurricane season. Every year, tens of thousands of visitors brave the scorching heat, frequent rains, and peak season crowds, only to be disappointed when the Sunshine State isn’t particularly sunny.
However, in late fall, it transforms into one of the best places to travel in November. You’ll find cooler weather and far fewer crowds compared to the summer months, making a November trip a no-brainer for those who can swing it.
River Ranch is located on the banks of the Kissimmee River, surrounded by the majesty of the Everglades Headlands. Water levels are lower in November, making it easier to spot the Everglades’ abundant wildlife. You’ll also see fewer mosquitoes, which is welcome news for those prone to bites.
Popular outdoor activities include long hikes, airboat rides, and freshwater fishing. But for those seeking a more traditional Florida vacation, River Ranch is just a day trip away from both coasts, as well as major cities like Orlando, Tampa, and St. Petersburg.

Florida may not be the first state that comes to mind when you think of cowboys and rodeos, but the state actually has deep roots in modern cowboy culture. People have been raising cattle there since the arrival of the first Spanish settlers, thanks to the flat terrain and year-round warm weather. Westgate River Ranch offers a taste of that Florida cowboy lifestyle, served on a luxurious platter of other activities.
Glamping is the name of the game at Westgate River Ranch, though more traditional camping options and cabins are available as well. The most memorable options are the Luxe Teepee and Luxe Conestoga Wagons, which feature resort-style luxuries with an Old West aesthetic. Wake up to a complimentary morning pastry and coffee, and watch the bison graze outside. When night falls, you can relax next to a campfire set by resort staff—no camping skills required.

The town of Fredericksburg sits at the head of the Highway 290 Wine Trail, home to dozens of wineries and distilleries. This beautiful town, known for its rolling vineyards, has become the unofficial capital of Texas’s food and wine culture, serving as the ultimate destination for many foodies traveling west from Austin.
There are more than 75 wineries near Fredericksburg, and listing them all would take the rest of this article. Instead, we’ll highlight Fredericksburg’s own Urban Wine Trail, featuring more than ten wineries and tasting rooms you can visit during a downtown stroll. In between sips, you can dine at one of Fredericksburg’s many restaurants. The Tex-Mex and BBQ are exquisite, but don’t skip out on the authentic German cuisine!
If you prefer hiking trails over wine trails, nearby Enchanted Rock is a must-see destination. Named for the 425-foot pink granite batholith that serves as its centerpiece, this state park features 8.4 miles of trails, along with camping, rock climbing, and stargazing. Enchanted Rock is popular year-round, so be sure to book your stay well in advance.

Located just outside town, these playful cabins pay tribute to the Hill Country’s rich culture of winemaking. Each cabin sleeps two, and is named and themed to a type of wine. From the deep red accents of Cabernet to the pink pastels of Rosé, each cabin is crafted with the same care as the wine you’ll be enjoying during your tour.
For larger groups, the Country House is your best option. This spacious, ranch-style home sleeps ten and features a spacious back patio and temperature-regulated cowboy pool.

November is the tail end of fall, and most trees up north have long since shed their leaves. Look to Georgia, however, and you’ll be able to catch peak foliage well into the month. The mild weather also makes the season more appealing for those who aren’t yet ready to see snow. At least not until after Thanksgiving, anyway.
North Georgia is where flat terrain gives way to winding mountain roads. In November, the air is crisp, but not yet freezing. The skies are clear, the leaves are just beginning to fall, and it’s the perfect time for an autumn drive.
One of the best places to visit in November is Cloudland Canyon State Park. Just two hours from Atlanta, this state park is renowned for its gorgeous views and spectacular waterfalls, which are even more breathtaking against the backdrop of the fall foliage. The 1,500 ft. canyon is nothing short of awe-inspiring, especially as the golden leaves begin to spread across its gently sloping landscape.

Surrounding yourself with the beauty of nature doesn’t mean roughing it. That’s the philosophy behind Dunya Camp, a glamorous paradise hidden in the North Georgia hills. If you want to be truly immersed in the beauty of fall, you’d struggle to find a better place than Dunya. It truly is that spectacular.
Your accommodation is a safari-style tent on a platform above the trees. While the fall weather is typically pleasant and sunny, you won’t need to worry about any extreme conditions thanks to the air conditioning and heating systems in each tent. Though the temperatures are delightful outside, you may be reluctant to close up your tent!
Each tent includes a king-sized bed, a wood-burning fireplace, a private bathroom with a soaking tub and shower, a kitchenette, a gas grill, a hot tub, and a fire pit. The Sunset Grand Tents also feature a private barrel sauna. Each accommodation sleeps two, and Dunya Camp has a strict ‘no children under twelve’ policy, making it perfect for romantic getaways.

November in upstate New York is the shoulder season between fall and winter. The leaves have fallen, and the first snows have just begun to fall. The bitter chill has yet to set in, so outdoor activities are still in the cards. The crisp weather is excellent for hiking, though remember to dress for the cold!
One of the best parts of fall in the Catskills is the food. Apple cider donuts are a fall tradition and an excellent way to start your day. While you’re trying the donuts, don’t forget to try the real thing. Mulled cider is a perfect late fall beverage and a warm pick-me-up for those chilly November days.
November marks the start of the holiday season, which means everyone is gearing up for the December rush. This is the time to visit local Christmas markets, sample holiday fare, or simply cozy up with your loved ones near the fire. It’s a fantastic time to visit the Catskills if you can’t wait for the start of winter.

If the late fall weather is making you long for summer heat, then a trip to Hawaii’s Big Island might be in order. The youngest and largest of Hawaii’s islands, the Big Island is renowned for its beautiful beaches and stunning views, remaining lush and vibrant throughout the year.
Hawaii’s natural beauty is without compare, and there are countless ways to enjoy it on the Big Island: hiking, golfing, road trips across the island, and no shortage of beachside activities. Then there’s the food: poke bowls, luaus, and some of the world’s best coffee.
November is the start of Hawaii’s rainy season, so while there is still sunny weather, you’d be wise to pack a poncho. The good news is that Hawaii’s unique geography, particularly on the Big Island, creates a variety of microclimates. This means that storms are short and isolated, so that you won’t be caught in the rain for very long.
From black sand beaches to vibrant coral reefs, discover all that the Big Island has to offer.
